A Letter From President, Derin Gebhardt

Dear Members and Supporters,

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I write to you. 2023 was a big year for The Musselshell Valley Community Foundation. We are in a massive expansion phase right now in terms of team members and endowment dollars, more on that in a minute. I hope this letter finds you and yours in the best of health and happiness and look for-

ward to seeing you all in 2024.

MASSIVE EXPANSION: We are doubling the size of our board, recently adding 3 new members, with 3-4 coming

soon. Some of our long-time members have stepped down and are focusing on projects of their own leaving room for many new faces and new zones of genius to join our efforts. The end of 2023 marks the roll out of an ambitious but serious plan to triple the dollar amount in our endowment thus tripling the impact of our grant dollars.

ENDOWMENT: The endowment consists of permanent funds that cannot be spent. Endowment funds generate interest; we then take the interest and pay that out annually in the form of grants to non-profit organizations. We have $370K currently in our endowment, which generates around $16K in interest annually; and we are looking to

triple that.

DONOR ADVISED FUNDS: We are preparing to establish a donor advised fund with $300K available for funds matching. The current goal is to get the endowment over $1,000,000 in the year 2024.The $300,000 that will establish the donor advised fund came to us from some local donors that are excited about the work we are doing and about making a lasting impact in our communities. This is an extremely generous and impactful offer we could not

refuse. When the endowment reaches a million dollars, we will be able to pay out approximately $50K annually back into our communities. We are excited to be able to offer your non-profit organizations these dollars, recognizing that through the help of many we can achieve great things.

GETTING INVOLVED: Some of you may want to get involved in all of this excitement, and we want your help. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our members to find out how you can help. We are also actively looking for funds to match the $300,000 already pledged. If you or someone you know is interested in pledging some money

that will have twice the impact and will actually last forever, please reach out to me. If you do nothing more than share this information with someone that isn’t familiar with the Musselshell Valley Community Foundation, you’ll be doing a great service for your community. Share it with someone that doesn’t know what we do and show them how

they can help.

Please take this opportunity to add value to this great foundation and the work we do. I challenge you to call a neighbor or family member and tell them about us and how they can make a positive impact right now!! I hope to see you all in the coming year, thanks for all you do to make the Musselshell Valley a fantastic place to live.

Warmest Regards~Derin Gebhardt, Chair
